NYFW recap from Emily

Tribal inspired shoes at Nicole Miller

This season, New York Fashion Week was a whirlwind of style! With a packed show schedule, collaborating with Nicole Miller, filming for Extra and Dish Nation – we are just winding down from the Fashion Week high!

The week started out with a glamorous bang at the dripping-in-rose-colored- glam at Michael Costello to the Mola print inspired collection by Nicole Miller.

Michael Costello took us into an enchanted rose garden filled with sparkle, berry hues, flowing gowns inspired by flowers blooming and hand-made floral headdress garlands by Carmen Rose Collection.

Nicole Miller, one of my favorite designers went #Panamania on us with neon hued tribal prints over black and white wearable frocks and separates. Each piece was so chic, I loved everything from the shoes to the accessories and all of the details. I love working with Nicole and her team as this is the second season we collaborated.  This season I was able to go to Nicole’s studio over Labor Day and get exclusive access to sketch her model casting, fitting and inspiration room pre-NYFW. We created a time-lapse Chic Sketch video that opened the live stream of her SS17 runway show. You can check it out on @NicoleMillerNYC or @Chicsketch on Instagram too!

In addition to that we covered Noon by Noor, Ulla Johnson, the Saks Fifth Avenue downtown store opening, Francesca Liberatore, Tadashi Shoji, Dan Liu, Namilia, Taoray Wang, Leanne Marshall, Xuly. Bet, Assembly x Raquel Allegra and more!

Some of my favorites that we covered were Jeremy Scott, Libertine, Dennis Basso and Marchesa.

At Jeremy Scott, the 80’s are back baby! From sequin drenched cat suits and geometric shaped looks to slogan heavy sweatshirts and dresses – it was nothing short of an 80’s Barbie life sized closet with hot pink pumps to boot.  Black and white prints of faces were plastered over brightly colored crop tops and trench coats while Hailey Baldwin and Chanel Iman strutted the runway.

Libertine had to be one of my all-time favorite fashion moments as the 60’s in London came storming down the NYC runway. The energy was high as sequin phrases, emoji-inspired patches, London flags and neon rainbow fur shoes adorned nearly every model in this collection. Hot pink tights emblazoned with newspaper like prints of #ChicAsHell as well as trench coats with the same hashtags, sequin peace signs and lip shaped patches with pearls cascading from them set the mood.  For the finale in true Libertine fashion, models sashayed out taking snaps of the audience and texting on their phone. This was only the precursor to the model party that took place amidst brightly colored strobe lights and blaring music as the models made the runway their ultimate dance floor.

The last show in my week was Marchesa and what a way to end the season. Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig are another two of my favorite designers and I love seeing them in their element among their Cinderella-like creations. As frothy ball gowns dripping in crystals, lame and embellishments float among the garment racks, I feast my eyes upon the dress worn by a full length dress form.  A seafoam green sheer multi-tiered ball gown strewn with crystals sure to be the most coveted of red carpet fashion to the stars. Inspired by Hollywood, every single dress in this collection was so stunning and I loved the iridescent sheen that dusted some of the gowns this season. Delicious.

Looking forward to seeing what the collections at the London, Milan and Paris shows bring!

Until then-
