Facebook Live with Life & Style to sketch Oscars looks!

Last Monday we got the chance to visit Life & Style Weekly again for another Facebook Live! This time we discussed all the red carpet looks from the Oscars. Here’s what Emily had to say:

Jessica Biel was a golden goddess in her Kaufman Franco gown. I really loved her necklace, which looked like fringes, but was actually metal! The coolest part about this dress was how it looked a little distressed. This is a huge trend right now. I also loved Ruth Negga’s Valentino look. She wore a long sleeve red gown, adorned with the ACLU blue ribbon, which many other celebs also wore that night. The dress was a little sheer, with some lace. She really looked flawless in the gown, and her tiara definitely completed the look for me. Another one of my favorite looks of the night was Naomie Harris in a white Calvin Klein dress. The sequins on the dress were gorgeous, but my favorite part of the look was her shoes. They had asymmetrical beading on them, which was so fun and unique!

The first look I sketched during this FB Live was Janelle Monae in Elie Saab Couture. This dress had gorgeous details and embellishments all over, as well as a sheer top half. The dress also had layers and layers of tulle in sheer black, which gave the dress its ball gown shape. Janelle also topped off her look with a tiara. Hair accessories are making a huge comeback, even in street style, so don’t be afraid to bring back those old headbands and other hair accessories! Some great brands for hair accessories right now are Chloe + Isabel x  Jen Atkin, Forever 21, and many more!!

Emma Stone wore vintage-inspired Givenchy Haute Couture. This look had major flapper vibes. This dress had spaghetti straps, which are actually making a comeback now too! Another hot trend seen on this dress are the fringes. Fringe has been in style for a while now, and for good reason. Who doesn’t love fringe?! Emma Stone is widely known for her red hair. Drawing red hair can be difficult because you don’t want it to come out too red or too orange, or even too brown. Because of this, it’s important to draw red hair in many layers, with different shades. If you want to see how I did it watch here!

The last look of the day was Emma Roberts in vintage Armani Privé. For this look, Emma focused on sustainable fashion, which is very cool. This gown also had spaghetti straps, since it is vintage. Another detail that I loved was the scallops on the bust line. One thing I noticed was that Emma Roberts and Michelle Williams wore very similar dresses, in that they were both black on the top, with a cream color on the bottom. This look all together was a very modern take on a vintage design, and I thought it came out so playful and beautiful!

Don’t forget that prom and wedding season are approaching, which are both great opportunities to get a Chic Sketch! If you would like to watch the full video of these looks from the Oscars, watch it now here!!
