Although they were off to a delayed start, awards season 2021 is back! The first stop on our way to the Oscars is of course, The Golden Globes. Airing Sunday Feb. 28th at 8pm, the 78th annual Globes will be co-hosted by fan favorites Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. And for the first time, the show will be hosted virtually and bi-coastal with Fey at The Rainbow Room in New York City, and Poehler at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills.
If you’re anything like us, your favorite part of the evening is what happens before the main event, and that is the red carpet of course! Unfortunately due to Covid, it seems that red carpets have been canceled across the board this year. To try and make up for this lack of glitz and glam we wanted to bring the red carpet to you! We’ve partnered with StyleCaster to host a virtual fashion pre-show via their Instagram story.
In preparation for the takeover, our co-founder and lead Fashion Illustrator, Emily, has been sketching some of your favorite stars including Lily Collins, Tiffany Haddish, Awkwafina and Margot Robbie. With two red carpet looks predicted for each celeb by StyleCaster’s fashion editor, Bella Gerard, we took to Instagram to see which look YOU would prefer to see on them. The red carpet looks include designs from Fendi, Prabal Gurung, Frederick Anderson, Alexis Mabille, Molly Goddard, Mark Fast and Iris VanHerpen.
Poll results of the looks were posted continuously until the Globes themselves started. The winning red carpet choice for each celeb was revealed by Emily and debuted as a sketch. We know everyone is craving for the day when virtual events are no longer needed, but we hope you enjoyed our make-shift red carpet as much as we did!
