Marchesa Spring/Summer 2017

Marchesa worshiped the sun and all its splendor with a Spring/Summer line fit for a queen. Starting the show at dawn, gowns topped with iridescent material showcased the breathtaking, soft-hued pinks, lilacs, and blues that stroke the morning sky. Gold llame and metallic fabrics accented a few of the pieces, mimicking the glow of the sun. As the collection progressed, hand beaded details and floral appliqués began to blossom, giving life to the pieces. Ruffles and fringe moved effortlessly like…

Dennis Basso Spring/Summer 2017

Light as air is how we felt watching the Dennis Basso Spring/Summer 2017 line unfold. Chiffon, lace and silk organza breezed through the catwalk in a delicate fashion. The veteran designer even managed to make leather look weightless. Not straying from what he knows best, Basso found a way to make fur blend in seamlessly. Exquisite beading and luminescent sheen created more depth to a few of the pieces. A mix of gowns, above the knee dresses, and vests were…

Assembly x Racquel Allegra Spring/Summer 2017

Switching from the runway and onto the hardwood, Assembly New York and Raquel Allegra turned fashion into a sport. Their unique presentation showed their clothing in action during an intense basketball match. On the sidelines were cheerleaders chanting "Let's go models! Let's go!", giving the players a boost and setting an atmosphere of healthy competition. The clothes themselves were loose-fitting with simple lines and cotton fabrics, keeping comfort at the heart of the design. Emerald greens, navy blues and light…

Xuly Bet Spring/Summer 2017

Xuly Bet went back to its West African roots for Spring/Summer 2017. Vibrant, multicolored Ankara print twinsets opened up the first half of the collection, giving us LIFE! Scattered amongst the looks were funky graphics and designs including tubes of lipstick and vintage cars. Overall, the line was fun and casual while staying functional at the same time. Over-sized seemed to be the trend with knee-length bomber jackets and huge wax print bags. Models donned transparent hoodies and raincoats that…

Libertine Spring/Summer 2017

If you love fashion that pushes boundaries, then the Libertine Spring/Summer 2017 line is for you. Calling the rebellious collection loud and different is certainly an understatement. Featuring a mix of neon colors, clashing graphics, fur accented shoes and even sunglasses with pearl fringe, the British designer and fashion genius somehow managed to make mixed media cohesive. Classic trench coats and bomber jackets were decorated with fur collars, sparkly embellishments and floral prints. The collection paid homage to Britain with…

Jeremy Scott Spring/Summer 2017

Welcome to Slime City! Jeremy Scott's Spring/Summer line was an ode to the late 80's flick, making us feel a bit nostalgic. Fusing S&M styles and 80's punk culture, the show opened up with graphic pieces saying "New York", "X-Rated" and "Hot Hot Hot". Dog collars, chains, garter belts and leather bondage inspired pieces gave the collection an erotic edge without being too overt. Scott made fashion fun as always with colorful graphic prints, mixing materials and playing with dimensions…

Taoray Spring/Summer 2017

The cold, structured look of menswear got a bit of a feminine touch by designer Taoray Wang. Known for her tailored aesthetic, Taoray kept her Spring/Summer 2017 collection refined with a simple black and white palette accented with a variety of stripes, fringe and leather belts. Blazer dresses, button-ups with a popped collar and culottes were a few trends that we foresee  fashionistas and the professional woman loving next spring.
